I’ve changed this up slightly, by adding celery and chopping the veggies slightly bigger, but this is a dip that a friend of mine brought to work one day. His wife makes it and she graciously allowed me to make it and use it here on the website!
It’s easy to make, and is guaranteed to be a hit at any get together. Better make plenty, and have plenty of crackers out! The first time I ate this at work, I just couldn’t get enough of it. There’s just something about that smoky flavor that’s downright addicting!
Smoky Chicken Dip
Note: This is assuming you have left over smoked chicken as I do often. If not, you’ll want to smoke some up prior to making the dip!
Ingredients
- 2 cups smoked chicken
- 1/2 cup Miracle Whip Light
- Vidalia onion
- green onion
- celery
Preparation
- Cut up enough vidalia onion, green onion and celery to make 1/2 cup of the three combined. Now put this into a food processor to chop it finer. (Leave them in pieces large enough to still get a good crunch from them).
- Now put the smoked chicken in the food processor and chop it fine. Combine the chicken and the veggies together and mix.
- Now mix the Miracle Whip in slowly to achieve the consistency you like. Add more or less as needed.
- Serve with crackers. Easily makes enough for a dozen hungry party goers!

Hey,
There’s a Facebook page currently reposting photos and full recipes, which hurts bloggers’ ability to make a living (in addition to being illegal.) They’ve reposted this one of yours (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=628440417182412&set=a.549094858450302.145992.548882378471550&type=1). Will you please take a moment to report this using this form on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/?id=208282075858952)? I’m hoping that if enough folks report it, she’ll realize she can’t just repost others’ content like that.
Thanks,

Thanks for letting me know Julie. I left a couple comments on my recipe on her Facebook page. I’m going to give it a couple days to see what her response is before I go to the form link you gave me.
Wow..I wonder if I could do this with some smoked pheasant???
Mmmmm, if I had some smoked pheasant, I sure would! I used to pheasant hunt a few years ago, but I wasn’t doing much smoking at the time.
This sounds so yummy but I don’t have a smoker. What is an easy trick to make smokey chicken for this recipe? Maybe add Liquid smoke flavoring while boiling chicken????? (I’ve never used liquid smoke flavoring either) any suggestions?
Hi Jaki. I’ve never been too impressed with liquid smoke. If you have a grill, just put some water soaked wood chips on the coals when you first put the chicken on the grill, and keep the lid closed as much as possible. If you have a gas grill, wrap the water soaked chips up in aluminum foil and punch some holes in the foil to let the smoke out. Put the foil pouch directly on the lava rocks. That will get some smoke flavor into the chicken.
Great suggestions! Thanks. We do have a gas grill and just recently added the lava rocks. Am excited to try.! Your response is much appreciated.
We have a local bbq joint that serves smoked chicken salad on a potato bun. My co-workers were trying to figure out what the secret ingredient was, and yes it’s miracle whip, makes it a little sweet. Great recipe Curt!
Thanks Sarah. That’s very interesting. I almost aleays use Miracle whip over mayonnaise.
