This is a great way to add a smokey flavor to your guacamole dip. Once you’ve tried this added kick, you’ll never eat plain old guacamole dip again!
You might consider making a double batch and refrigerating the leftovers for later. (If there is any that is!)
Alright, let’s get started then. This will take you all of 30 minutes to make.
Mesquite Guacamole Dip
This requires your smoker to be going at about 225 to 250 degrees, and burning mesquite wood. I would recommend making this while you have some other projects going in the smoker. Kind of silly to fire it up for 15 minutes!
Ingredients:
- 3 Ripe Avocados
- 1 Garlic Powder
- 2 T Cilantro
- 2 T Fresh Lime Juice
- ½ White Onion
- Salt (to taste)
Directions:
- Cut your avocados in half and remove the pit. Scrape the avocado from the skin and pour the lime over the avocado.
- Dice the onion, and chop the cilantro.
- Add to the avocado and lime; the garlic, cilantro, onion and salt, and mix to your desired smoothness.
- In an aluminum baking pan, spread the dip out fairly thin, (about a half inch thick is good), and place in your smoker for 15 minutes.
Note: I always use those cheap (4 for a dollar) aluminum pans, as they tend to brown up and get sticky on the bottom. Then you can just toss it.

Well, this is quite unique!!! Never would have thought of smoking guacomole. When I show this to my husband, I know he’ll want to try it. He’s the smoker of this household. It sounds crazy, but I’m sure it’s good!
