Here’s a great idea my wife came across on the internet. By making your own chips in the oven using corn tortillas, you end up with a much healthier version of a corn chip. And you can flavor them any way your imagination will allow you to.
We did 3 different flavors. Kosher salt, taco seasoning, and cinnamon and sugar. I highly recommend the cinnamon and sugar. It was delicious!
They aren’t quite as crispy as the store bought version, but you can throw these into a bowl on the party table, and know that you have a healthy choice for your guests and/or family!
Note: These instructions are a bit loose, but keep in mind that once you've brushed the tortillas with oil, you can flavor them with whatever you want.
Ingredients
- corn tortillas
- Canola oil
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Lightly oil one or more baking sheets, depending on how many chips you are making.
- Lightly brush one side of each tortilla with about 1/4 teaspoon oil and sprinkle with a pinch of salt, or whatever flavoring you like. Stack the tortillas and cut into 8 wedges, or squares.
- Arrange on the baking sheets. Bake until crisp, 8 to 10 minutes.
