This tastes absolutely delicious. I recently put out a recipe for Oatmeal & Strawberries, and I got a comment from Kristina at Spabettie.com. I came up with the proportions for this recipe, but the majority of credit for this recipe should go to Kristina, because that’s where the inspiration came from.
If you read the comment she left me, she mentions that cooking the oatmeal WITH a banana in it makes it delicious and fluffy. It was the fluffy part that kept me intrigued, and I finally gave in and tried it out! She is definitely right, and I was definitely NOT disappointed. So, if you’re now as intrigued, or just plain curious as I was, give it a whirl and I’ll bet you’ll agree!
The banana completely dissolves into the oatmeal while cooking. Pretty awesome!
Note: This is for 1 serving. Add accordingly if you're cooking this for more than just yourself!
Ingredients
- 1/2 medium banana (1/4" slices)
- 5 medium strawberries (sliced in half)
- Old Fashioned Oats (Not the instant kind)
Preparation
- In a sauce pan, before heating, slice the 1/2 banana into the water measured for the single serving. Now start your water boiling, and follow the directions on the container for the rest.
- Once cooked, pour into a bowl and add the sliced strawberries.
- I add a little sugar, but of course, that's optional.

I cook oatmeal for my husband every morning to keep him healthy. I’ve never thought about putting a banana in it. He’ll love this!
I bet the banana sweetens it too!
the banana DOES sweeten it!
Curt I am so happy you loved this as much as I do – glad you tried it!
An oatmeal I’ll have to try out too, thanks for the idea.
